Pied Kingfisher with Catch

Pied Kingfisher with Catch

Often seen but seldom captured is the Pied Kingfisher emerging from the water with a catch.

I was fortunate enough to capture the action when this one was successfull. Taken at the Mankwe hide at Lake Mankwe.

Superb action shot!

This is great timing - most of my kingfisher shots are of the tail disappearing into the water or the ripples left in the water where the bird emerged from.
