About Ambience Inn

Ambience Inn is a lovely relaxing bed and breakfast that is owner run by Issy and Hannes, who are both very friendly and helpful. When we arrived we simply checked-in and chilled out after Issy and the two doggies showed us around.

There is a large salt-water swimming pool, an ideal place to cool off after a day in the Kruger National Park, or after one of the scenic day-trips to the Panorama Route, God's Window, Graskop or Sabie.

Hannes is an artist and has a lovely art studio in the garden where many local artists come and enjoy a morning of painting. His, and other artist's artwork can be found in the rooms, gallery or in the lounge area.

We love the paintings that depict the Kruger National Park like these of the Pretoriuskop koppies and of Legogote hill

Accommodation

There are 6 comfortable well decorated rooms each with en-suite bathroom, a courtyard with an outdoor shower, air conditioning, tea and coffee facility, bar fridge, television, private entrance and a cosy veranda with views of the swimming pool and gardens.

We love the fact that the mosquito nets can be simply and quickly moved to the side of the beds and brought back just as quickly if needed - great idea!
Each room has an indoor shower and an outdoor shower. We would have loved to use the outdoor shower but we stayed during winter!

Food & Drink

A fresh breakfast of your choice is served daily on the veranda overlooking the koi pond and garden.

Dinner is available by prior arrangement or enjoy dinner at any of the several restaurants in town.

Issy very kindly recommended two restaurants to us; 64 Coolmore and Oliver’s. We tried Oliver’s on the first night and loved the cosy fire and good food, but we expected more in terms of food quality as it is a 5-star restaurant. Our prawn curry was lacking flavor and heat.

Oliver's Restaurant in White River

Our 2nd evening we had a wonderful dinner at 64 Coolmore which is on an avocado plantation not far out of town. The decor is exquisite, with a central fireplace, outside seating and relaxing French ambiance.

Wildebeest ravioli starter
Seafood pasta main course
Baked cheese-cake dessert
Cheese and biscuits platter to help us finish off our bottle of superb red wine!

The daily menu is designed by Carl, the owner, who with his wife Megan and attentive staff, make you feel like you're at home.

Lamb shank main course
Amarula panna cotta dessert!

The food, hospitality and service were out of this world - fine country dining indeed!

For something different and yummy, you must try their game ravioli and their family wines!
