White Rhino and Glossy Starling

White Rhino and Glossy Starling

Since 1993 I have been traveling on a regular basis to the Pilanesberg NP in South Africa.

I like the park because it is close to Johannesburg, and it is a malaria free zone. Because of that it is also fine to visit the park with children.
In the early 90's it was difficult to see rhinos there, but in the last years the population has been growing fast, and in these days for sure one will get in touch with them.

Anyhow, to get a nice picture is always very challenging. I was happy, when this starling landed at the shoulder of this white rhino.

Together with the smooth early light it gave the image what I consider a magical touch...

"It's 768 pages of the most amazing information. It consists of, well, everything really. Photography info...area info...hidden roads..special places....what they have seen almost road by road. Where to stay just outside the Park...camp information. It takes quite a lot to impress me but I really feel that this book, which was 7 years in the making, is exceptional."            - Janey Coetzee, founder of CAROK (Camps and Roads of Kruger)  South Africa
