Location

Greenway Woods Resort is situated next to the 18-hole White River Golf Club, which is located 6.5 kms from the small town of White River, 18.7 kms from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, 27 kms from Nelspruit and 53 kms from Kruger National Park’s Numbi Gate.

(There are two routes to Numbi Gate from the lodge; R40 or the R538. The R538 is the shorter route but the road is not in good condition so we recommend you take the slightly longer R40 route).

About Greenway Woods Resort

Greenway Woods is a large resort tailored for the bus tour-groups and families. The lodge grounds are big with a large swimming pool near the restaurant and children’s play area.

The main building has reception, a seating area, bar, games room, restaurant and conference rooms.

Food & Drink

The Injabula restaurant is next to the main entrance of the resort and offers a vibrant African atmosphere with traditional artwork. We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant and the buffet food was also very good.

The main restaurant is somewhat plain when compared to Injabula but we sat outside on the veranda overlooking the swimming pool each night because it was too hot to sit inside.

The food was good and is mostly served buffet style. Most mornings we asked for breakfast packs that we could take with us into the Kruger Park but the morning we did have breakfast it was very good.

Accommodation

The resort has 35 Deluxe Rooms, 15 Garden Rooms and 40 Standard rooms with upstairs and downstairs units to choose from.

All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers, air conditioners, tea and coffee stations and DSTV (only some rooms have a bar fridge so please ask when you make your booking).

We stayed in a very comfortable deluxe room that had a small lounge area with a fireplace, braai area outside on the patio and a bar fridge.

Our Bedroom in the deluxe room

The chalets have a master bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom; two additional bedrooms, one fitted with a double bed and the other with two single beds. A second bathroom, lounge area complete with DSTV, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.

Activities

The resort is family friendly, providing a host of fun activities to keep kids busy - trampoline, jungle gym, games room, as well as a children’s entertainment programme during school holidays.

Adults can visit the 18-hole golf course, take a dip in the swimming pool, or battle it out over a game of pool or chess.

Being wildlife photographers, we enjoyed our day trips into the Kruger National Park, which is always a nice way to spend the day.

These are some of the images we captured while staying at the lodge…

We spent a lot of time at Lake Panic hide in the Kruger Park and we started off seeing the small stuff like the dragonfly but then saw a darter catch a fish...

drop the fish

and the resident fish eagle said 'thank you very much...!'

Oh, and we also got to spend 30 minutes with a female leopard in a tree...
