Sunset Dam

We are amazed at how many people rush out of Lower Sabie each morning heading in all directions but very few stop off at Sunset Dam. Maybe it's the name 'sunset' dam so people think they must come here only at the end of the day for sundowners yet we have seen so much from when the sun rises - from lions to croc kills and fish eagles and yellowbilled storks catching fish. And the animals are so close you don't need a long lens.

The dam is great throughout the day. We have also seen a lot of game here and there is plenty of space for cars to park so everyone can get a view.

Due to the rain on the 12th March we spent the day at Sunset dam water edge. In all the years that we have visited the Kruger, Sunset dam has never been a disappointment.

It must be one of the top three waterholes/dams in the Kruger park in terms of wildlife activity.

Sunset dam is one of our favorites too, we can spend hours waiting and watching the comings and goings of birds and the hippos are always entertaining.
