Hammerkop at Lake Mankwe

Hammerkop at Lake Mankwe

The Hamerkop is normaly sighted at lakes & rivers. It is however an infrequent visitor at Mankwe and seldom offers an opportunity to photograph it. I was fortunate to get this take-off from the walkway at Mankwe hide.

Informative...
by: Kanko

Nice picture there. Hamerkop is a rare bird, and as you said, it never poses for your photographs. But you got a great shot here. I might plan a trip to Pilanesberg this holiday and hope I get to see such a photogenic species then.
